Last week Jeff Lee, Senior Consultant at ISSUP, attended a two-day course at the Reitox Academy in Prague.
Fifty representatives of the Reitox national focal points (NFPs) and decision-makers from over 20 countries attended the event, of which the theme was prevention.
Reitox is the European network responsible for the collection and exchange of information on drugs and drug addiction. One of the key roles of the Reitox Academy is to support the development of the European adaptation of the Universal Prevention Curriculum (UPC).
The UPC- Adapt project hopes to create a programme that enables the professionalisation of the prevention workforce in Europe, by providing educational material on the most up-to-date, evidence-based prevention strategies.
The UPC- Adapt team is in the process of carefully summarising and developing a condensed version of the original UPC training programme. The result, EUPC, will be a shorter, intense, interactive training curriculum, which the team hopes to translate into nine languages and will include country-specific adaptations.
