A new substance abuse prevention programme called Preventure uses personality tests to identify children most at risk of indulging in harmful drug-taking behaviour. The traits it has identified amongst at-risk children include: sensation seeking, impulsiveness, anxiety, sensitivity and hopelessness. The programme aims to tackle substance use disorders by teaching those identified as being at-risk cognitive behavioural techniques that can be used to manage such negative and/or problematic emotions.
