The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), the Health and Human Services US Government Department (HSS) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) have collaborated to create a manual on the use of medication in alcohol use disorder treatment.
Aimed at professional care providers, the manual covers screening patients, developing treatment plans and selecting medications, monitoring patient progress and also explores a selection of different medications which could be implemented in treatment.
The manual is free to download from the SAMHSA website as an electronic resource and is published in English.
