The Science of Physical Activity

What is the science behind it?

  • Physical activity has many health benefits: it strengthens the heart and can help improve bone health and fitnesslowers blood pressureimproves sleep quality and reduces the risk of diabetes.

  • Physical activity stimulates brain growthmotor skills and cognitive development. It improves learning and memory and helps children achieve better in school.

  • Physical activity releases endorphins and dopamine, nature pain relievers that also create a feeling of well-being and happiness and lower the risk of depression.

  • Children aged 3 to 5 should engage in active play for at least 3 hours each day.

  • Children age 6 to 17 should engage in at least one hour of moderate to vigorous activity a day.
