Implementing Community-Level Policies to Prevent Alcohol Misuse
This webinar highlights findings from SAMHSA’s guide titled, Implementing Community-Level Policies to Prevent Alcohol Misuse, which explores evidence-based, community-level strategies to prevent alcohol misuse.
Following an overview of the goals of SAMHSA’s Evidence-Based Resource Guide Series by SAMHSA’s Robert Vincent, MSEd, the guide’s subject matter expert, David Jernigan, PhD, of the Boston University School of Public Health, discusses the development of the guide.
Alicia Sparks, PhD, provides an overview of the framing of the guide and effective prevention policies that can be implemented at the local, state, tribal, and/or territorial levels.
Key considerations and strategies for implementing and evaluating these policies are discussed, along with the equity implications of each policy. Representatives from organizations featured in the guide’s case studies discuss the implementation of policies in their community to prevent alcohol misuse.
