In commemoration of the international day against drugs and illicit trafficking, Uganda Youth Development link (UYDEL) celebrates 30 years in prevention and Serving Marginalised young people in Uganda

In commemoration of the international day against drugs and illicit trafficking, Uganda Youth Development link (UYDEL) in Partnership with United Nations of on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) organized a youth crime prevention sports gala at UYDEL Masooli Rehabilitation and Retreat center under the theme:

People first: Stop Stigma and Discrimination, Strengthen Prevention.

 

Prevention is Key

With over 500 young people from the different walks of life benefiting under the UYDEL prevention programs in the Kampala and Wakiso districts participated in games aimed at raising awareness about the dangers drug abuse among young people.

The event attracted dignitaries including Dr. Rev Duncan Mugumya, the physical education and sports commissioner in Ministry of Education and Sports, Professor Monica Swahn Dean Kenshaw University and Principal investigator TOPOWA mental health study, Dr. David Basangwa a re-known mental health consultant and Ms. Sharon Lesa Nyambe the UNODC regional officer for Eastern Africa Kampala.

The Event also marked 30 years of UYDEL in prevention work while serving the lives of marginalized young people in Uganda and on that day over 200 young people graduated with various vocational skills in Hairdressing, Tailoring, Bakery, Catering and Electronics.
