Bi-Monthly Webinar: ISSUP Nigeria Knowledge Update Series (Tenth Session)

ISSUP Nigeria are pleased to present their next Bi-Monthly Webinar in the Knowledge Update Series. This Webinar will focus on 'UNODC Innovative Approach to Drug Demand Reduction in Nigeria following COVID-19 Pandemic'.

Presenter: Dr. Akanidomo K J Ibanga

Akan holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Birmingham, UK; an MSc (Clinical Psychology) from the University of Benin and BSc (Psychology) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is a fellow of the Nigeria Psychological Association.  Has 30 years of work experience in the area of drugs, he has held lecturing and research positions in tertiary institutions (Nigeria and UK).  A senior leader with a record of success in developing innovative and effective policies resulting in programs and services with sustainable change.  Demonstrated ability to build multi-stakeholder platforms, partnerships and implement strategies at the local, national and international level.  From 2014 to date, he is serving as the National Project Officer (Drug Demand Reduction) in UNODC working with the EU funded project “Response to Drugs and Organised Crime in Nigeria”. In this role, he has been instrumental in development of policy documents nationally.  Successful organizing and cascading training of health care practitioners at national and state-levels on delivery of evidence-based drug treatment services. Highly effective cross-cultural and cross-sectoral communicator with international experience working with government agencies, civil society organisations, academic institutions and the private sector. Demonstrated scientific leadership as evidenced by 90+ publications and presentations across peer-reviewed journals and international congresses.
