At the beginning of June ISSUP staff attended the Trainer Development Task Force Meeting in Washington, DC. A number of experts came together to discuss the development of a trainer recruitment and skills development model for healthcare professionals interested in or currently working in the substance use prevention or treatment fields.
Representatives from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Drug Advisory Programme (DAP) of the Colombo Plan, the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD), the International Consortium of Universities for Drug Demand Reduction (ICUDDR), the Global Center for Credentialing and Certification (GCCC), Applied Prevention Science International (APSI) and several other specialists in the field shared their experience and practices in screening, assessing and building competencies as well as monitoring and evaluation. ISSUP looks forward to working with our partners on creating this exciting model.
