PhD Opportunities

Mental Health and Substance Abuse

The University of Staffordshire, UK is offering a PhD opportunity with a partial scholarship in the School of Law Policing and Forensics, Mental Health and Substance Abuse: Supporting Dual Diagnosis Service Users

The PhD project will explore recovery in individuals with dual diagnosis of substance use and mental health disorders. Dual diagnosis or comorbidity is often met with stigma and can limit access to services and treatment. The research will also explore the link between mental health and crime and punishment and will directly contribute to local level changes to services in Stoke-on-Trent where the university is located.

The partial scholarship scheme offers an opportunity to enrol in a PhD project without having to pay any tuition fees. In exchange for this, applicants would be expected to provide a maximum of 250 hours of teaching support to the academic staff. No bursary or any other funding will be provided and it is required that researchers will be based in the Stoke-on-Trent campus.
