Cognitive-behavioral therapies in Mexico

Portada

The book that the reader has in his hands aims to reflect the origin, background and current status worldwide and in Mexico of cognitive-behavioral therapies, as well as the different areas at its disposal, of which we only present a few here. The work is integrated by collaborations of researchers specialized in different fields of these therapies, from various recognized institutions, including internationally (Faculty of Psychology and Faculty of Higher Studies [FES] Iztacala of the National Autonomous University of Mexico [UNAM], Center for Research and Advanced Studies [Cinvestav] of the National Polytechnic Institute [IPN], National Institute of Psychiatry [INPRFM], University of Santiago de Compostela [USC]). It fulfills that task, reflecting the quality of research conducted in Mexico and disseminating techniques and strategies to address a variety of health problems.

At present, it is difficult to give a single definition of what is meant by cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), it is usually called cognitive-behavioral therapies (CBT), since, although it originated as a derivation of the principles and theories of learning (called behavior therapy, CT), the identification of maladaptive behavior and the change of it by modifying the environment in which it was presented was its specific objective (instead of being extended increasingly to the extent that mere conduct did not necessarily represent the complexity of the problem.) At present, TCyC have transcended these limits by including concepts external to learning theories, such as cognitive, social, emotional, and other disciplines, such as biology, neurosciences, computer science, sociology, among others.

Go this book for students, health professionals and those who like psychology. We hope that they will benefit from the knowledge of genesis, the shaping of cognitive-behavioral therapies, and efforts to bring psychology as a science applied to the clinical and social field.
