ISSUP Tanzania was officially launched on 27th November 2023. The National Chapter in Tanzania adds on to a total of 37 ISSUP National Chapters globally.
The event formed part of a high-level ceremony held in the Morogoro region of Tanzania to launch a new Methadone Addiction Treatment Centre (MAT).
In attendance was the Deputy Minister in charge of Policy, Parliament and Coordination issues, Hon. Ummy Nderiananga, officials of the Prison Service, Military, Health Ministry and ISSUP Global.
ISSUP Tanzania is hosted by Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA) under the Division of Prevention, Treatment, Rehabilitation and Research. The mission of the National Chapter in Tanzania is to facilitate and establish a national multidisciplinary platform of ethical professionals in the field of substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery.
Speaking about the launch of ISSUP Tanzania, Commissioner General of the DCEA described the institutional collaboration with ISSUP as an operational advantage in strengthening and equipping the addiction workforce in Tanzania.
ISSUP is excited about this latest addition to the rapidly growing network of National Chapters.
