Dr. Marsiglia is Regents Professor and Director of the Global Center for Applied Health Research (GCAHR) at ASU. GCAHR conducts prevention research in partnership with universities and communities in the US and in 14 other countries.
The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities and the National Institute on Drug Abuse have funded his team’s research program for more than 20 years. Flavio’s research significantly contributes to the knowledge-base on substance use prevention and adolescents’ risk and protective factors.
He is the co-developer of the evidence-based prevention program Keepin’it REAL and its Latin American counterpart Mantente REAL. Many professional organizations have recognized Flavio’s contributions through many awards. Most recently, he received the Helen Rodriguez Trías Social Justice National Award from the American Public Health Association for his contributions to the advancement of prevention science and his COVID-19 intervention research efforts with vulnerable and underserved communities.
