Adding Value for Evidence-Based Prevention Training
What is INEP?
The Introduction to Evidence Based Prevention (INEP) provides you with the essential principles of substance use prevention. Developed by Charles University (CUNI) in Prague, the course content is based on the European adaptation of the Universal Prevention Curriculum.
What is INEP Plus?
Prevention is the job of everyone in different ways. From expert “preventionists” to parents, teachers or work colleagues - we are all stakeholders in prevention. INEP Plus aims to help people understand and play their part in prevention.
INEP Plus was developed by ISSUP to add value to the INEP content by providing training of facilitators from its National Chapters who could then offer INEP Plus courses in country for beginners in prevention. This would help to address their understanding of evidence-based prevention and play their role as stakeholders in prevention.
What will you learn?
INEP Plus training and facilitator courses cover a range of fundamental issues for evidence-based prevention. The virtual course explores evidence-based prevention strategies and policies, prevention in families, schools, workplaces, and communities, as well as the role of media and the importance of monitoring and evaluation.
Enhanced learning with INEP Plus
Each of the INEP Plus sessions contains individual activities alongside virtual group discussions to deepen understanding and share insights with others. INEP Plus enhances the learning experience by promoting collaboration and understanding and addressing questions and needs together.
On successful completion of the course, National Chapter facilitators are provided with support to facilitate INEP Plus in their own country and help others to deepen their understanding of what evidence-based prevention means. Once trained to be ISSUP certified facilitators, the National Chapter can plan and implement evidence-based prevention in their own country.
Testimonials
Participants from INEP Plus training have found it truly inspiring and empowering, giving them a new passion for evidence-based prevention. Here's what some of them had to say:
"The content was excellent for introducing evidence-based prevention to newcomers."
"The combination of online sessions and group discussions was really good."
"I enjoyed the diversity and learning about challenges in other countries."
Building global capacity in prevention
ISSUP is committed to strengthening prevention support globally. To achieve this INEP Plus has been provided through our National Chapters in building their capacity to help others in their countries. Our National Chapters have trained facilitators for INEP Plus in countries such as Afghanistan, Argentina, Bahamas, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, The Gambia, Greece, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, South Africa, Spain, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.
Looking ahead
ISSUP seeks to provide INEP Plus trained facilitators to as many National Chapters as possible. This will require the need to translate and adapt provision for the increasing number of ISSUP National Chapters. In this way we seek to deliver on building a professionalised prevention workforce worldwide. Other programmes may be developed to meet the different needs of different stakeholders.
