Day 3, 09:00 - 10:30, ICUDDR, State of Science Across the Spectrum of Substance Use
Presented at Thessaloniki 2024, on the 28th of June, 2024
Description:
The field of drug demand reduction is ever-evolving, particularly in the era of the increasing penetration of synthetic drugs into the global market, necessitating the establishment of Global Coalition for Synthetic Drugs for a unified approach.
New strategies are continuously being developed for monitoring and surveillance to keep abreast of trends in substance use, emerging risk, and substance use disorders, necessitating strong collaborative efforts between multiple agencies in the health, social, and law enforcement sectors. As we become aware of the burden and distribution of need through unifying data resources such as the World Drug Report which facilitates a global view with a local focus, we have an opportunity to engage with best practice strategies across the spectrum of intervention, from prevention to treatment and recovery programming.
This panel seeks to explore the current state of drug surveillance and monitoring and to present some reflections on novel prevention, treatment.
