An awareness talk and Exhibition on "Say No to Drugs" was held at NCA
Lahore: A seminar and poster exhibition titled "Say No to Drugs" was organized by the National College of Arts Lahore, in Collaboration with Deputy Commissioner Office, Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH) & Colombo Plan to highlight the issue of drug abuse and illicit trafficking and its impact on society.
Addressing the occasion, Syed Zulfiqar Hussain Consultant Anti-Drugs Narcotics Campaign, and Shahzad Tanveer Deputy Registrar NCA, highlighted several causes observed in the young generations who get subjected to drug addiction. Syed Zulfiqar further added that things happen to us all the time, but all that matters is how you react to it and what you make out of it becomes the cause of change. They proposed recommendations such as self-belief, self-control, reduction in communication gaps, strong family bonding, self-awareness and involvement in healthy activities as a workable way to counter the drug's inclination.
Syed Zulfiqar Hussain also highlighted that the main reasons for drug inclination might include depression, peer pressure, unintentional dependency on medicines, and lack of self-control and to enhance performance. He suggested treating a drug addict as a patient and always being empathetic for his rehabilitation process.
On this occasion, Principal, Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jaferi Said; that students can highlight this important issue in society with their artwork. He asked young students to pledge not to be diverted by any wrong company and to always uphold the esteem of their faith and their family. Dr. Jafri shared his own experiences with the students while highlighting the importance of life which is bestowed upon us and stated that we should be able to protect it rather than making it havoc for ourselves. He also added that drug addiction is a path of misery and it makes us suffer which leads to a painful situation not only for us but our families so we should act responsibly towards these things. A large number of students and faculty members attended the seminar
