We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and caring individual to join our Telford Substance Misuse Treatment and Recovery Service (STaRS), Family Safeguarding Team.
Telford STaRS works with adults and young people over the age of 10 to enable them to make the changes they want to make, whether that is to reduce or completely stop use of alcohol or drugs. We provide a team of doctors, nurses, recovery workers, community connectors, peer mentors, and recovery focus to help adults and young people on their personal recovery journey.

In this role, you will utilise all of your expertise in providing a remarkable service and care by working with families to minimise and prevent, as far as possible, children entering care due to substance misuse, mental health and domestic abuse.
You will be an integral part of a team, making a real difference to people's lives and the wider communities in which we serve.
Main duties of the job
- To work as part of a multi-agency team delivering interventions to safeguard adults and/or children at risk.
- To work with families to minimise and prevent, as far as possible, children entering care due to substance misuse and other related issues.
- To engage and undertake comprehensive needs led assessments concerning substance misuse in order to reduce risk and maximise safety within the family setting.
- To support individuals in accessing and engaging with the local substance misuse team.
- To raise awareness around the dynamics of both substance misuse and Recovery and the potential impacts on self and on children.
- To provide information and advice to colleagues within the Family Safeguard Team regarding the risk and protective factors surrounding families experiencing substance misuse and recovery.
- Identify and deliver effective interventions for substance misuse to increase safety and reduce risk
