The National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) at UNSW Sydney is now hiring an Associate Professor, Indigenous Research Lead.
Why this role matters:
This position will provide leadership for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research and engagement within the National Drug & Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC). The incumbent will work closely with the NDARC Office of Director (including Centre Director, Research Director and Deputy Directors) to oversee and develop a program of work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities aimed at reducing the harms from alcohol and other drug use.
This role will be able to build a team – initial recruitment of up to two Research Fellows and two HDR scholarships.
Who you are:
- A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Experience in the Drug and Alcohol sector is preferred
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Significant track record of positive engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Significant track record in research leadership with outcomes of high quality and high international impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence and deliver research leadership.
- Demonstrated supervisory and/or leadership skills in research, including research training and supervision, in an inclusive and respectful manner.
- Demonstrated academic excellence and outstanding contribution to research and scholarship.
- Demonstrated leadership in building engagement and partnerships with the profession and industry.
