The Art of Healing: A new era in substance use prevention, harm reduction, treatment and recovery support” convened at the International Exhibition & Congress Centre of TIF-HELEXPO, Thessaloniki, Greece.

It was such an honor to attend the ISSUP 2024 Global event: “The Art of Healing: A new era in substance use prevention, harm reduction, treatment and recovery support” convened at the International Exhibition & Congress Centre of TIF-HELEXPO, Thessaloniki, Greece.

Imperatively, amidst the very first group of people globally to be trained on the URC 1 (Universal Recovery Curriculum 1: Delivering Recovery Support Services: The PEER (Peer Experiences Empower Recovery) Model. Into the bargain participating on the launching of the Global Recovery Network: An alliance of people that support recovery from Substance Use Disorders.

As a Certified Addiction Professional, the training, network and experiences from vast and numerous individuals from all over the globe spice up the passion and knowledge I have; touching lives of those struggling with Substance Use Disorders in my Country through the services I provide (Chemical dependency & addiction counseling).

I’m confident enough to emulate the same in my community (Tanzania)  by deploying  EVIDENCE BASED APPROACHES . Needless to say, in lockstep with the Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA) in reducing the harm induced by drugs by providing treatment, reintegration services, and psycho-education to people with Substance Use Disorders.

Wow, what an incredible privilege it was for me to attend the ISSUP 2024 Global event in Thessaloniki, Greece, house of hazards. As someone deeply passionate about substance use prevention, harm reduction, and recovery support, I was honored to be among the first global participants trained on the groundbreaking Universal Recovery Curriculum 1 (URC 1).
