Reaching Students Where They Are: School Based Prevention

This webinar focuses on how we can work effectively with schools to help all students and families prevent and reduce youth opioid and other substance use. The presenter begins by describing key risk and protective factors associated with youth substance use. Using the three-tiered approach to intervention found in educational settings, the presenter discusses specific evidence-based and promising prevention strategies for each tier, and also how school policies can help to sustain prevention strategies. Finally, the speaker addresses how understanding school culture can enhance the ability to implement prevention programs in schools successfully.
