UPSIDES Webinar: Peer Support in India
UPSIDES stands for Using Peer Support In Developing Empowering Mental Health Services and is a consortium of scientists, mental health professionals, stakeholders and peer workers from six countries in Europe (Germany and UK), Africa (Uganda, Tanzania) and Asia (Israel and India).
Peer support is increasingly being recognized as a best practice intervention for rights-based, recovery-oriented mental health care around the world. However, much of the evidence for peer support comes from the Global North. This month, the UPSIDES consortium in collaboration with the Mental Health Innovation Network held a webinar series on Peer Support in the Global South.
In this Webinar, Jasmine Kalha, a research fellow at the Center for Mental Health Law and Policy in Pune presents the work that has gone into developing and building peer support within facilities and communities as well as the impact and lessons learned from implementation.
