Prochaska,s Change Model is amazing, fantastic .we can apply it in other behavioral interventions too.
Stages are 1.Precontemplation Stage
2.Contemplation stage
3.Preparation stage
4.Action stage
5.Maintenance stage.
And results of healthy and unhealthy maintenance.
(Recovery or Relapse)
At first stage, patient is unable to see his or her problems and does not want any change.
And we often focus on only drugs here.
If we see other areas like dissociation from addictive environment, friends, paraphernalia,Behaviours, repairing interpersonal relationships etc, patient may be on precontemplation stage too.He or she does not see these as problems in next stages of treatment whether he is taking treatment.
Being a good counselor these problems need our attention too.we can see how important these factors are in recovery.
Neglected factors are also important as abstinence is.comprehensive treatment can bring desired outcomes .
These factors also need Readiness Rulers ratings.
